How to install Openproj in Ubuntu

Hello Every today i am going to show you how to install .RPM file in Ubuntu using OpenProj example
Download Openproj 1.4 - Click Here

Here is how you can install RPM packages on Ubuntu:

1)Convert RPM package to *.deb using alien and install it afterwards, i.e.
Install alien (and deps), its available in Debian, Ubuntu repository:(if you dont have alien install it first...)
sudo apt-get install alien dpkg-dev debhelper build-essential

2)Convert rpm package using command
sudo alien -k --scripts some-rpm-package.rpm
Eg: sudo alien openproj-1.4-2.noarch.rpm

Now your .deb file is created

3)Install it using this command
sudo dpkg -i some-rpm-package.deb
Eg: sudo dpkg -i openproj_1.4-3_all.deb

Error Message

It says us to change run.cnf file to set auto-detection properties. To do that we have to go home folder but it doesn't generally shows a folder named ".openproj" so enter ctrl+h. Then you can see many folders and their name begin with "." in that you can find".openproj" folder and open run.conf file with text editor.

In that file you can see entry saying
JAVA_OPTS="-Xms128m -Xmx768m"
you have to change it to
JAVA_OPTS="-Djava.vendor=Sun -Xms128m -Xmx768m"
Then you are done. Go ahead and run OpenProj. Thank You.........
